INTRO TO MISSION EXPLORE:
Ever felt so curious about a part of the world that you could hardly wait to explore it? All my life, I've been supremely curious about history and nature: animals, diversity, unique cultures, and the questions which evade our easy understanding.
"Exploration is curiosity put into action."
– John Walsh, explorer and oceanographer
Growing up as a child, I would pore over my field guides time and again, mesmerized by the seemingly endless variety of lizards, insects, birds, and other "critters." Globes and maps adorned our living spaces. An epic human history timeline dominated the entire family room wall, a centerpiece in our home and in my mind.
My name is Austin Youngquist, and today I am an explorer on a mission to help you discover along with me the interesting places, people, causes, heroes, creatures, and stories of earth—in a way that transforms and deepens your understanding of this extraordinary world we indwell. I call it: Mission Explore. Enjoy written content, photos, videos, and podcasts that all focus on these themes. In addition, I seek out worthy causes around the world and those heroes on the ground making a long-term difference. One recent example is Pastor Wendy Philippe who helps provide food and much-needed supplies to the elderly in hurricane-ravaged parts of Great Abaco in The Bahamas. At least 10% of subscription and sponsorship income from MissionExplore.org goes to help champion causes and charities like this!

Thanks to the generosity and support of friends, family, and my local community, I've participated in numerous adventures. These include two archaeological digs in the Holy Land (one exploring the cliffs in Qumran for new Dead Sea Scrolls, and one excavating beneath the Old City of Jerusalem that produced Byzantine potsherds dating as early as 325 A.D.)! I've trodden the sands of the Arabian Desert and sailed the Sea of Abaco, diving and spearing fish at uncharted shipwrecks. Naturally I can hardly help but share my experiences. It's time to do so formally—and in a (hopefully) profitable way that leads to new expeditions!
"A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for."
– John A. Shedd
As a believer in the God of Abraham and His Son, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I hold that the earth demonstrates the wisdom, power, and love of a Creator who gives us all life and meaning. Whether you are a fellow believer or not, I invite you to explore the marvels out there in this world along with me and see for yourself. My goal is to be accurate with the facts and reasonable in my interpretation and ideas. If you catch an error, send me a message to let me know!
Chances are, if you're reading this then you have personally met me; let me say thanks for logging on and checking out MissionExplore.org. "It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings."
– King Solomon, Proverbs 25:2 NIV
